A major event in the history of our chapter recently took place-one that will mark the start of a new Phi Tau era.
On July 21, our Housing Corporation closed on the sale of the 516 Northwestern property to the Purdue Research Foundation. At the same time, we purchased the last remaining lot in the Tower Acres-which will become the new Phi Tau location. The university agreed to a two-year lease agreement on our existing property that allows plenty of time for us to construct our new house.
Our Housing Corporation has worked on this transaction for quite some time, and feels gratified with its completion. While we experience the excitement of moving forward with a new chapter in Lambda history, a feeling of sadness also exists for the day when Phi Taus no longer occupy their traditional place on campus. Each of us likely carries a virtual scrapbook of 516 Northwestern memories in our mind and heart. In every great book, though, when one chapter ends another begins.
And the story continues to get better.
The conceptual design, plans, and engineering work recently completed for the new Phi Tau home will make you proud. We have entered into this new era-Chapter 2-of our history well prepared due to the efforts of many brothers already involved, all of whom have embraced the vision of Lambda's future.
As we move forward into this new adventure together, we'll need more hands on deck. You'll hear more about the current state of the project and how you can get involved; through your time and talents, as well as from a financial perspective. All of us will have an opportunity to help write our fraternity's next chapter at Purdue.
In the meantime, please join us in celebrating this major milestone and thanking those that have helped us get this far.
